Cityview Community School Newsletter

September 18, 2026

Dear Cityview Families,

Welcome to the end of our second week of the 2026–2027 school year!

Seeing our hallways full of bright eyes, eager learners, and energetic students and staff has been wonderful! Thank you for sharing your incredible children with us. The first two weeks of school always bring big emotions, new routines, and tired brains—for students and parents alike! Everyone did a fantastic job adjusting.

Here are some highlights from the start of the year:

Smooth Routines:  Our morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up procedures improved each day thanks to your patience and cooperation.

Reconnecting and Making Friends:  Students have spent time playing, sharing stories, and learning classroom expectations.

Engaged Classrooms:  As I walked through the building, I saw students already diving into our exciting new literacy curriculum and engaging in academic discussions.

Sincerely,

Principal Renee Montague

Important Update:

I am reaching out to let you know that this past Tuesday, the board gave a presentation with an update on the school transformation process.  While no decision has been made, at least one proposal recommends closing or merging Cityview Community School.  I imagine you may have many questions and encourage you to review the information on this website and the different resources to learn how these proposals may impact your family.

You can share your feedback using this digital engagement tool, or attend one of the upcoming Community Meetings (the list is available on the transformation webpage).

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me.  Again, these are just proposals, so please share your feedback by October 16.  We will share the feedback with the school board and the broader community on October 20. The school board will then determine how we move forward.

We will continue to ensure your student has the best experience here at Cityview School, and we will support our children and each other as we move forward together.

Attend a Meeting on School Transformation:

All meetings will be held from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.

Interpreters (Spanish, Hmong & Somali) and childcare will be available.
